The Iron Butt Scoring App is the companion app for riders participating in supported Iron Butt and long-distance motorcycle rallies.
Built for the realities of rally riding, the app provides a streamlined way to manage bonuses, capture required evidence, submit claims, and stay connected with rally staff throughout an event.
Riders can view rally and bonus information, reference photos, availability requirements, point values, and other instructions directly in the app. Bonus claims can include photos, video, audio, written answers, notes, timers, and other evidence required by the rally.
The app is designed to continue working when cellular service is limited or unavailable. Riders can prepare and document claims offline and synchronize them when connectivity returns.
Additional features include rally navigation, final-approach guidance, rider messaging, claim history and corrections, offline rally preparation, and other event-specific functions configured by rally staff.
For rallies that enable GPS tracking, the app can record location data to support rally operations, safety, and event administration. Because riders may travel for extended periods with the device screen off or the app in the background, location tracking may continue in the background when enabled for the event. Location-dependent features are governed by the requirements and configuration of the individual rally and the permissions granted on the rider's device.
The Iron Butt Scoring App is intended for registered participants in supported events. An eligible rally enrollment and rider account are required to use rally-specific features.

Version History Introduces a refreshed cockpit-style design across Home, Rally Home, bonuses, claims, messages, downloads, tracking, and timer screens, with clearer controls and status information. Tracking now provides direct location-permission guidance and visible feedback while starting or stopping. Timed bonuses now show progress on the selected button and use stronger safeguards before a timed claim can be reset or abandoned. Also added some refresh buttons to the meal/rest clock screen for the people that seem to have the start time disappear on them. Also added a refresh button for the GPS on submittal page which seems to take a bit to fill. The developer never seems to have these issues, so the proof remains to be seen if this will help. 66 Jul 2 We changed the background color of the bonus selection screens so the text for the bonus code and bonus names could be seen better. 65 May 5 We updated the background color on screens that made reading the font difficult. 64 Jan 5 We have completely redone the page aesthetics. We have also made it where you can download the entire list or see it from the cloud. 63 Jan 2 This version corrects a coding issue revolving around audio bonuses. It also removes text on the cache submittal screen to avoid issues with font size across different platforms. 62 10/07/2025 The app has been overhauled to remove text-based buttons that have font size issues with different phones. A cache function was added, along with a coding change on the clock interface and audio recording interface, to address bonus integrity in locations where there is no data service. A couple cosmetic changes to the home page rounds everything out. 61 08/08/2025 Two riders are complaining about the rest start button not having a dual check clear button, so we added this because they don't understand how the system works. 60 06/15/2025 The version put pictures for some buttons to continue addressing the organic phone font size issue and the audio recording function was streamlined to make the upload function automatic. 58 05/30/2025 We changed the audio upload to automatically send when the recording is stopped instead of requiring the rider to manually submit. We added a yes/no block to the request bonus list button on the claim form screen. 57 04/30/2025 Updated coding to allow for slightly larger picture file sizes. 56 04/10/2025 In the scorer function, there was no process to stop an upload if a bonus code or photo was not chosen.
